BIG CASTLE TOUR
Embark with us on a magnificent city tour all the way to Bratislava Castle. Pass by the most significant buildings steeped in history, as our audio guide, available in 24 languages, reveals numerous facts and interesting tidbits. Thanks to the panoramic roof, you’ll enjoy an undisturbed view of towering majestic structures, and in the end, you can take a photo in front of the “Prešporáčik®“ Oldtimer, as everyone desires to have this ‘icon’ in their photo album.
The journey begins next to the historic building of the Slovak National Theatre on „Hviezdoslavovo“ Square, continuing to the Square of the Gentle Revolution, which has been a lively commercial center of the city for centuries. The market hall, commanding the square, remains a venue for various design markets and food festivals.
Along the Square of the Slovak National Uprising, passing by the 17th-century Hospital of Merciful Brothers and the Ministry of Culture, we reach the Church of the Holy Trinity towards the Trinitarians. „Prešporáčik®“ Oldtimer then passes by the Freedom Square, dominated by the Friendship Fountain. It is the largest fountain in Bratislava, in the shape of a linden tree, symbol of the Slavs. It had undergone extensive reconstruction and became a favorite active recreation spot for the city residents’.
We pass by the seat of the government of the Slovak Republic, around the inverted pyramid-shaped Radio building and the National Bank’s high-rise, heading towards the Presidential Palace. Along Palisády Street, where the city walls once stood, we ascend to the Vienna Gate – the main entrance to the Bratislava Castle.
Take advantage of a twenty-minute break to stroll through the castle area and capture beautiful photos with the impressive city panorama beneath it. Sit on the walls for a moment and enjoy the view of all the roofs below you, the Danube River with the SNP Bridge, the „UFO“, and the outlines of modern buildings on the horizon. Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away. And the view from Bratislava Castle is undoubtedly one of those moments – so don’t miss it!
On the way down from the castle, we’ll pass through „Zámocká“ Street and around its Palace, where grand balls were once held, all the way to the original city fortifications ending at the Coronation Church of St. Martin. Along the waterfront, the building of the Slovak Gallery, and through „Ľudovít Štúr“ Square, we will slowly approach the end of this route.
If you have time, we recommend purchasing tickets for some of our other „Prešporáčik®“ Oldtimer tours.
